Introduction to Fujian Health College
Fujian Health College is a public full-time general higher education institution approved by the People's Government of Fujian Province and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is a Fujian Provincial Model Modern Higher Vocational College, a unit included in the first and second phases of the High-Level Vocational Colleges and Majors Program, a vice-chairman unit of the Public Health Management Specialty Committee and chairman unit of the Preventive Medicine Subcommittee of the National Health Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, and secretary-general unit of the Fujian Medical and Health Industry Vocational Education Steering Committee.Founded in 2005 through the merger of Fujian Health School and Fuzhou Health School, the college traces its history back to 1888. It was one of the first nursing schools registered by the Chinese Nurses Association, an origin of modern nursing education in China, one of the first higher vocational colleges in China to offer the preventive medicine major, and the earliest training base for pharmacy and medical laboratory professionals in Fujian Province.
The college currently has 30 internal institutions, including 14 party and government administrative offices, 9 teaching institutions, and 3 auxiliary teaching institutions. It offers 30 majors and has built 5 professional clusters, with more than 12,000 full-time students. There are 693 full-time teachers, including 231 with senior professional titles and 36 with doctoral degrees. It has established a professional layout of “Five Services and Five Orientations” and a “5+9+N” professional development system consisting of leading majors, advantageous majors, and supporting majors. It leads the establishment of the Digital-Intelligent Grassroots Health Industry-Education Integration Community and Fujian Health Service Vocational Education Group, carrying out joint education with 25 hospitals and enterprises. It has been approved for 4 provincial-level pilot industrial colleges, 2 provincial-level industry-education integration demonstration majors, 4 provincial-level service-industry characteristic professional clusters, and 3 provincial-level high-level specialized industry-education integration training bases, and was selected as a typical case of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation by the China Education Development Strategy Society. It has 3 research centers and 1 research laboratory, undertaking projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Key Projects of the National Education Science Planning of the Ministry of Education, Research Projects for College Ideological and Political Theory Teachers of the Ministry of Education, and Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Plan Projects. The college leads the establishment of the Fujian Grassroots Health Technician Training Group, and has been approved as a National Nurse Licensing Examination Question Development Base, National Nutrition Guidance Capacity Improvement Registered Institution, National Cultural, Educational, Scientific and Health Industry Craftsman College Construction Site, Fujian Provincial Rural Doctor Training Center, and Medical Care Worker Training Center, providing training for 30,000 people annually. It was selected as a “List-Announced and Leader-Taken” training unit for key industrial projects in Fujian Province. The college has 15 pilot “1+X” vocational skill level certificate programs and 20 vocational skill evaluation categories. Actively participating in the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, the college has established partnerships with more than 10 universities in the United States, Japan, Thailand, and other countries. It has built the Huangfu Mi Acupuncture and Tuina School in Thailand and the Maritime Silk Road College in Ecuador, enrolled international students, launched the first Sino-foreign nursing education cooperation program in Fujian’s higher vocational colleges, and exported traditional Chinese medicine technical standards to Ecuador and other countries. It collaborates with Tajen University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, and has been approved for enrollment qualifications for students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, a provincial practice base for national conditions education for Taiwan students, and a provincial open Fujian-Taiwan industry-education integration practice center.
